About Us Church Life FAQs

About Us

"We love because He first loved us."

The message of Jesus was to rich and poor alike. He did not discriminate between people who were different. At First Christian Church, we continue the tradition of caring that began with Him.

Historic Tradition

First Christian Church is an historic congregation that has been meeting faithfully for over two hundred years. Our building has the authentic feel of a classic New England church.

Practical Teaching

The Bible is not just hypothetical or abstract–it contains important life lessons and encourages next-steps. We at First Christian Church seek to do the same.

Contemporary Feel

Despite our historic roots and traditions, First Christian Church includes contemporary music and relevant preaching, and visitors are encouraged to come as they are.

Family Atmosphere

Families large and small of all ages have found a home at First Christian Church.

Church Life

Sunday School

Sunday school for adults begins at 9 a.m. and runs until service begins at 10 a.m., and school-aged children are welcome to attend the children’s Sunday school during the message.

Youth

They are the next generation of the Church! You will see our children serving in various ways in the church. Nursery is available and our youth workers are trained and screened according to our child protection policy.

Men's & Women's Ministries

FCC recognizes the needs that are unique to men and women. Opportunities of teaching and fellowship are available to both during the week, including men’s breakfast, ladies’ retreats, and prayer groups.

Community Outreach Events

We seek to be the eyes and ears of our community, and to respond to its needs with the resources we have. Christ has called us to be in the world but not of the world. We meet this challenge joyfully by looking for new ways to serve.

  • Every Sunday at 10:00 a.m., we draw apart from work and the pressures of the outside world, share the Word of God, sing, worship and enjoy fellowship.

  • We encourage you to dress comfortably!

  • Upon arriving, please park in the lot behind the church on Crockett Neck Road, which is shared with the cemetery. You may enter the sanctuary using the wheelchair-accessible entrance on the left side of the church.

  • FCC values the traditional and contemporary, incorporating both in our Sunday worship, combining piano and acoustic guitars as well as other instruments.

  • Our services begin with music and a time of prayer before a message preached from the Bible. From start to finish, our service tends to run 60-70 minutes.
